Bariatric Surgery

Bariatric surgery is surgery designed to aid weight loss and improve mobility and quality of life .

As such it can be an extremely successful method of losing weight though is not to be entered into lightly. It should always only be contemplated after the extensive use of other methods of weight loss and will a full knowledge of the potential risks. We are firm believers in the benefit of follow-up following surgery and there is a well attended support group for our patients, based at Spire hospital, Norwich.

The criteria for appropriate use of the above surgical procedures has been through international review. In the UK, the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) have published the following eligibility criteria for NHS bariatric surgery.
